Apple Martin's daddy wasn't so far away for this special occasion.
In fact, Chris Martin was sure to be right next to his and his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow's 20-year-old daughter at the Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris.
The soirée was "so not something I ever thought I'd do," the Coldplay frontman admitted to Rolling Stone in an interview published Dec. 19, "but because I'm so in love with her, I'm like, 'OK.'"
It also helped that the milestone brought the whole family together in November, including their 18-year-old son Moses, who's currently attending Brown University.
"It's sad," Chris, 47, said of their kids being away from home. "That's the only word. But of course, it'd be weirder if they were still like, 'I can't leave.' Then you'd be more worried."
Although Apple's debut to high society was a cherished memory for the Martin-Paltrow clan, she also faced online backlash for giving "mean girl" energy at the event after seemingly stepping into the frame of fellow debutante Aliénor Loppin de Montmort's solo picture.
Apple, however, denied the allegations on TikTok with a trending audio.
"I don't know how anyone has a problem with us," she and her friends mouthed in a now-deleted Dec. 16 TikTok video posted by pal Ava Crox. "We are such a delight. We are two of the funniest girls and I know us, like offline. When I tell you, there aren't two more caring, charitable, generous, kind…"
But Aliénor has no hard feelings towards Apple, emphasizing to People that "she is genuinely the nicest girl ever" and that she "doesn't deserve an ounce of what she's getting."
After all, the exclusive ball was a fairytale evening for the 20 young women making their debut at the Hotel Shangri-La. As Aliénor put it, "It was always a dream."
It seems Gwyneth couldn't agree more. Following the sweet family evening, she gushed on Instagram earlier this month alongside snaps from their trip, "A special long weekend in Paris."
Although Apple's evening in Paris symbolizes her latest transition to adulthood, the goop founder previously reflected on the state of their relationship as she's gotten older.
"It's amazing as a parent how your relationship continues to evolve through all of their different chapters," the 53-year-old told E! News in May. "She's an adult woman now, so we relate to each other like that. Of course, I'm always her mama, and she comes to me for those things, too. But it's very interesting to really watch her step into herself as a grown woman."
"She influences everything I do," she continued. "I run everything by her. I value her opinion so much, and she's also such a product person—especially with makeup, much more so than I am. I'm very minimal. So as we go more into color, she's the person I rely on the most."
