Lindsay Hubbard is defending her hustle.
Weeks after welcoming her daughter Gemma Britt Kufe, the Summer House star addressed critics who called her out for working with a paid sponsor to announce her pregnancy this past July.
"People were very torn up about this," Lindsay admitted during the Dec. 23 episode of Jason Tartick's Trading Secrets podcast. "They were like, 'I can't believe she monetized her pregnancy announcement.' And it's like, why not? I'm gonna make the announcement anyway, why not make money from it?"
The 38-year-old continued, "I used Clearblue, I used the digital test. That was the test I used back in April when I found out I was pregnant. So why not go to them and say, 'Hey, I used your test, I'm about to announce my pregnancy, do you want to sponsor this?'"
The former PR professional also revealed she broke the $100,000 annual mark in income this year for the first time since giving up her old career to become a full-time social media influencer when she's not filming the Bravo reality series.
"This is how I'm making my money," Lindsay noted. "I'm not doing PR anymore, I'm not sitting behind a desk."
And announcing her baby news this past summer was a major monetary stepping stone for the new mom.
"That was by far the biggest announcement of my entire life," she shared. "At that point, I think it was the biggest deal [I ever did]. It tied another deal I'd done in the spring."
Lindsay—who has yet to reveal the identity of her boyfriend and her daughter's father—welcomed Gemma on Dec. 8. Prior to the birth, she got candid about preparing to be the best mom possible amid her years-long estrangement from her own mother.
"I feel very blessed that I am having a girl, because I think that it gives me the opportunity to course correct and to break the cycle," the Bravolebrity told Entertainment Tonight in October. "I'm now able to give my daughter things that maybe I didn't have from my mother growing up. Or I'm able to take the experience that I had of things I wish happened with my mother and give those give those to my daughter."
"I think it's going to be a different type of healing that I never knew I needed," she continued, "because I've done so much healing so far in therapy and abandonment work. I do feel blessed to be able to kind of close that chapter in a way I never knew I needed."
