Ariana Grande is doing everything that really counts at the 2025 Golden Globes.
The Wicked star turned heads at the Golden Globes Jan. 5, hosted by Nikki Glaser, in a yellow vintage Givenchy Haute Couture dress from 1966 paired with white gloves, a dazzling Swarovski choker and a scandalacious change to her hair. (Click here to see all the fashion on the red carpet.)
Indeed, the pop singer debuted a new hairstyle—which is noticeable darker than before—in a high ponytail instead of her signature Glinda bun. And fans have taken to social media to speculate that her copper ‘do is a nod to her character’s hair in The Wizard of Oz.
“Ooo Ariana Grande went with the OG Glinda from Wizard of Oz ,” a fan posted on X Jan. 5, “the hair!”
Others have pointed out that muted yellow her gorgeous vintage gown—which was very much giving Audrey Hepburn—was also a subtle nod to Oz’s yellow brick road.
But this wasn’t the first time the “thank u, next” singer channeled her inner good witch through her wardrobe. At the Australian premiere of the movie musical, Ariana wore a pink Vivienne Westwood ballgown featuring a large tulle skirt and billowy sleeves—recreating the look worn by Billie Burke, the original Glinda the Good in the 1939 film.
Ariana wasn’t alone in creating the most magical Wicked-inspired outfits. Indeed, her and her costar Cynthia Erivo spent months incorporating their characters into their red carpet looks leading up to release of the stage-to-screen film. And luckily for Cynthia—who played Elphaba in the film—she was already a fan of the color green.
"I love it, and I will always love it," the 37-year-old told Vogue in September. "In terms of my casting, it's given me an excuse to buy more green clothes."
Ariana, on other hand, found enjoyment in changing up her look in preparation for the role of a lifetime.
"Pink was never really a part of my life until I started collecting a lot of pink pieces during the audition process three years ago,” the Nickelodeon alum added. "I just wanted to live in the DNA and mindset of the character. Now I love the color pink and it feels like part of me. I think it’s something I'll be forever intertwined with in a very special way."
And Ariana wasn’t the only one that had a look to remember at the star-studded awards show. Keep reading to see some of the best look at this year’s Globes…
