Céline Dion’s great love will last a lifetime.

Nine years after the “My Heart Will Go On” singer lost her husband René Angélil to throat cancer at the age of 73, the 56-year-old and her family continue to hold him in their hearts, honoring him with an emotional social media message.

“René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already,” Céline captioned a Jan. 14 Instagram photo with their three sons—René-Charles Angélil, 23, and twins Nelson and Eddy Angélil, 14. “Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I.”

“You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me,” she continued. “I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour…. We love you.”

When René—who Céline married in 1994—became ill in 2014, the singer cancelled her Las Vegas residency to take care of her husband. And before he passed, she shared how hard it was to watch his health decline.

A Timeline of Céline Dion's Health Battle

"We were living in hope, knowing that there's no hope,” she told People in 2017. “There were times when I was very, very scared and he'd write me 'The end is near, I feel it.'"

That same year, the “Love Again” singer shared an update on how she was doing after the painful experience of his passing the previous January.

"It's been a tough journey," she told E! News in 2017. "Like I say, many times, many people go through this, and you see your husband suffer for three years, and it's not what you want to see. So now I know he is well, and we live with him in a different way. And I see him through the eyes of my children every single day."

Indeed, Céline has shown time and time again that the power of love lives on within her three sons. In fact, the five-time Grammy winner—who has been battling stiff-person syndrome, an autoimmune and neurological condition which causes muscle spasms—has leaned on her family for support during her own health struggles.

“Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and to live as normal of a life as possible,” Céline wrote in a March Instagram post. “I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team and all of you!"

And four months later, for her first performance in four years, the “Power of Love” singer made the most beautiful comeback, singing Édith Piaf's "Hymne A L'Amour" at the Eiffel Tower during the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony.

“I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities,” she wrote in her a July Instagram post following her performance. “Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.”
