Watch: Donald Trump Reveals What the New Jersey Drones Really Were

Bethenny Frankel can sleep easy tonight.

After residents of Morris County, New Jersey, including the Real Housewives of New York alum, noticed suspicious drones flying overhead in mid-November of last year, the White House has finally provided some clarification of the purpose for the aircrafts, which were approved by the Federal Aviation Association.

“After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement attributed to President Donald Trump during a Jan. 28 press briefing, per Politico. “This was not the enemy.”

Leavitt noted that some of the drones, however, were, “private individuals that enjoy flying drones.”

The White House setting the record straight on the origin of the drones—which were also spotted above Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Virginia and Ohio, per CNN—comes after months of conspiratorial speculation by people online. Indeed, everyone from Frankel to then-President-Elect Trump had shared their theories behind the aircrafts.

“Something strange is going on,” Trump said last month during a press conference at his Mar-A-Lago resort. “For some reason, they don’t want to tell the people.”

The 78-year-old also expressed concern for the placement of the drones, which were spotted near his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey.

“I think maybe I won’t spend the weekend in Bedminster,” Trump added at the time. “I’ve decided to cancel my trip.”

Meanwhile Frankel—a resident of New Jersey—expressed a great deal of concern and voiced her own theories for the aircrafts’ appearances.

“This continues to be The Twilight Zone,” Frankel admitted in a Dec. 20 TikTok. “Something is very clearly going on.”

The New Jersey drones were such a hot topic of conversation that even Saturday Night Live parodied the moment during a Weekend Update segment Dec. 21, with Bowen Yang giving a special nod to Wicked by singing a reimagined “Defying Gravity.”

Of course, the moment also poked fun at the lack of information given by the FAA about the drones at the time.

“I know what I am,” Bowen, who played a drone during the segment, said. “I don’t need to explain myself to anyone at any time for any reason, okay?”

As the audience laughed on, the comedian added, “All y’all hate me ‘cause I’m up.”
