The search for Eliza Huszti and Henrietta Huszti continues.
Police announced Jan. 29 that they have called off the river search for the Hungary-native sisters, both 32. The update comes over three weeks after the women—who are part of a set of triplets—vanished after being last seen just after 2 a.m. local time Jan. 7 on Market Street at the Victoria Bridge in Aberdeen, Scotland.
"Extensive and detailed searches have been carried out of the River Dee and the Harbour area," local superintendent David Howieson said in a statement obtained by People, "using local and national specialist police resources, including the dive and marine unit, police dogs and air support, and those of partner agencies."
Howieson added that "these searches have now concluded at this time, but inquiries will be ongoing to trace Eliza and Henrietta."
The superintendent went on to share that the "investigation continues," with search efforts focused on other areas.
"Coastal areas, both north and south of Aberdeen city, will continue to be searched and any further information received by police will be acted upon," he said. "I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality."
The shift in search efforts comes over a week after authorities confirmed that a cryptic text message was sent from Henrietta's phone to the sisters' landlady at 2:12 a.m. the morning they went missing.
According to police, the text said that "they would not be returning" to their shared apartment and that "the phone was then disconnected from the network and has not been active since."
The following day, police said, the landlady found the sisters' belongings and reported the unusual behavior to Aberdeen authorities.
Investigators determined that the message had been sent from the area around the Victoria Bridge, where they were last seen.
Police also announced that the sisters had visited the same area one day prior on Jan. 6.
Both wearing backpacks, they spent about five minutes on the bridge, and did not interact with anyone else. Following the subsequent CCTV footage, authorities determined the women headed back in the direction of their apartment, which is located in the Charlotte Street area of Aberdeen.
Local authorities called on the public to come forward with any information they might have on the missing women.
“I would again urge anyone with any information which could help find Eliza and Henrietta to get in touch,” Howieson said in an earlier press release. “We remain in regular contact with Eliza and Henrietta’s family in Hungary and we will continue to provide them with support at this very difficult time.”
