Lily Collins is saying bonjour to a new little love.
The Emily in Paris star and her husband Charlie McDowell welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Tove Jane McDowell, via surrogate, the couple shared on social media.
"Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell," Lily and Charlie wrote in a joint Instagram post Jan. 31, "Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way."
Closing out the message, the pair—who tied the knot in 2021—addressed their newborn directly, writing, "We love you to the moon and back again…"
Alongside the heartwarming note, Lily, 35, and Charlie, 41, posted a photo of their new addition. In the pic, Tove—wearing a beige onesie and matching hat adorned with floral embroidery—laid in cozy bed of blankets while the Love, Rosie actress placed a comforting hand on her belly. To top off the sweet moment, a blanket monogrammed with their daughter's name was draped over the bassinet.
In the months leading up to Tove's birth, Charlie had gotten candid about how he and Lily wanted to expand their family.
“We would like to,” the Summer Book director told E! News in October 2024. “We would like to move into that next stage, so we'll see when it happens!”
And Lily had echoed his sentiments as well, revealing that her desire to have children one day is part of what allowed her to overcome a difficult eating disorder.
"Everyone has a different form of recovery. I never had an ‘aha’ moment,” she told Us Weekly in a 2017 interview. “My reason to finally start talking about [my eating disorder] was the moment I realized I wanted a family. I wanted kids. I didn’t want this to be something I bring into that.”
And there's no one Lily would rather start a new life journey with than her husband, who has even relocated with her to France while she shot seasons of Emily in Paris. As she told E! in 2022, "We can kind of conquer anything."
"We've been through so many changes globally, personally, and to be able to have a partner next to you that makes you laugh in times when you need it the most and helps you emotionally get through things, like moving to a foreign country for four months," she added. "I just feel so grateful that I have someone next to me to be able to accomplish that and your best friend with you all the time."
