Jalen Carter is tackling an illness.

Four days before he is supposed to play in the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans, the Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle missed his scheduled press conference appearance due to being sick, according to NFL Media.

"#Eagles standout DL Jalen Carter missed his media availability today because of an illness, I'm told," NFL Media reporter Ian Rapoport wrote on X Feb. 5. "We'll learn later about where he participated in practice and if so, how much."

And while the details of Carter's sickness were not disclosed, the football player—who was named to the Pro Bowl and was honored as second-team All-Pro in just his second season with the league—was not the only person feeling under the weather, with the outlet also reporting one support staffer on the team as coming down with an illness.

Carter's Eagles are set to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome for the Super Bowl, where Kendrick Lamar will perform the iconic halftime show on Feb. 9.

The two teams previously competed for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy at the 2022 sporting event, where the Chiefs came out on top.

Though losing was not the desired outcome for the Eagles that year, the team's quarterback Jalen Hurts said that the experience "lit a fire" in him to take home the big win this time around.

"Every game has its lessons—good, bad or indifferent," the NFL star explained during a Feb. 4 press conference. "So, just being able to become wiser, grow and mature and take all these lessons in for the next season and the next games, it's had a great driving force. It lit a flame."

And Hurts noted that it's rare to get a rematch against the same team, presenting the Eagles a second chance at securing a victory during the big game. As he put it, "To have this opportunity again is exactly what you work for."
