Watch: Kim Sae-ron, Netflix’s ‘Bloodhounds’ Star, Dead at 24

The acting community is mourning one of its own.

Kim Sae-ron, who starred in the Netflix series Bloodhounds, was found dead at her home, Yonhap News Agency reported Feb. 16, citing police. The South Korean actress was 24.

A friend of Kim who was going to meet her had visited her home and discovered her and called the police, the South Korean outlet reported.

"We have not found any signs of foul play as of yet," a police official told Yonhap News Agency, "but we are investigating the circumstances of the death."

Kim last acted onscreen as Kim Hyeon-joo in the South Korean series Bloodhounds, which was released on Netflix in 2023.

She began her onscreen acting career at age 8 with a role in the movie A Brand New Life. She later starred in films such as The Man From Nowhere, A Girl at My Door and the 2018 The Villagers before largely concentrating on television projects.

The actress starred on shows such as Glamorous Temptation, Mirror of the Witch, the South Korean version of Leverage, Excellent Shaman Ga Doo Shim and Kiss Sixth Sense before making her debut on Bloodhounds.

In 2022, her career stalled following a drunk driving incident, in which she crashed her car into a guardrail and a transformer and was sentenced to a fine of 20 million won (US$13,850), Yonhap News Agency reported.

The actress issued a lengthy apology on social media after the crash. "I caused an accident in Gangnam around 8 AM yesterday, May 18, where I damaged public property. At the time, I was drunk and made a big mistake," the actress wrote in Korean on her Instagram May 19, 2022. "I should have acted more carefully and responsibly, but I failed to do so. I sincerely apologize."

Kim said there was "no excuse for this unfortunate incident," adding, "I am disappointed and ashamed of my mistake. I will deeply reflect and reflect again so that something like this will never happen again. I am sorry."

The actress rarely posted on her Instagram account. Her last post, shared in January, was a solo portrait, which she captioned with a light blue heart emoji.
