Watch: Cynthia Erivo Set to Host 2025 Tony Awards

Cynthia Erivo’s latest gig proves how popular she is this award season.

The Wicked star has been announced as the host of the 78th annual Tony Awards which will air live on CBS June 10 from the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

“I am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honor,” the 38-year-old said in a press release. “I am looking forward to ushering the theatre community at large through a night that celebrates the wonderful performances we have witnessed throughout the year. I hope I can rise to the occasion.”

Of course, Cynthia, who is succeeding three-time host Ariana DuBose as emcee, is no stranger to the Tonys stage as she previously took home the trophy for Best Leading Actress in a Musical in 2016 for The Color Purple.

As for who will join her at the ceremony later this spring? That remains to be seen as the 2025 Tony nominees will be announced May. 1.

And as if Cynthia hasn't defied gravity enough, her time as host during the ceremony will give her more than enough opportunities to put her steller (and sometimes Wicked-inspired) fashion sense on display.

“I’m always going to be finding something that feels a little bit avant-garde because I love that,” she exclusively told E! News Dec. 9. “I love pieces. I love things that feel a little bit off to the left.”

“I will always have a jewel in my ears,” she noted. “I have 20-something piercings. I think about 27 piercings in my ears. And my stylist and I have worked together to both pick and pull. I like to buy. I like fashion. So these are my earrings.”

However, the Widows star’s return to the Tonys will cap off a busy award season as her work as Elphaba in the screen adaptation of Broadway’s Wicked has left viewers changed for good.

Indeed, she’s snagged nominations at the Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globes, SAG Awards and Oscars this season—as has her Wicked costar Ariana Grande.

But while she’s been an award season staple, there is one moment that has already stood out: holding space with Taylor Swift at the Grammys.

“She grabbed my finger, yes, she did,” Cynthia told E! News Feb. 7 about the “Bad Blood” singer recreating her and Ariana’s viral moment. “That night just was fun, full stop. That was definitely the best beginning I could possibly have asked for for a night like that.”

The 78th annual Tony Awards will air live on CBS at 8 p.m. and stream on Paramount+ June 10.
