Tyga is mourning a tragic loss.
The musician’s mom Pasionaye Nicole Nguyen died on Jan. 18 at the age of 53, he shared in a heartfelt tribute on social media.
“Can’t imagine life without you by my side,” the 35-year-old (real name Michael Ray Stevenson) wrote in a Feb. 21 Instagram post alongside a carousel of pictures from throughout her life. “You were the best and most supportive person in my life, you always made things better when I felt at my lowest and worst. I would trade anything just to be able to be with you again.”
He continued, “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. and I can’t wait for the day until we’re together again. I’ll see you soon and save me a spot right next to you in paradise.”
In addition to the message on missing his mom, the “Taste” rapper—who shares son King Cairo, 12, with ex Blac Chyna—reflected on the grief and pain he is experiencing.
“I been trying to understand and process why God takes the most meaningful and most beautifulest people away from us,” he said. “But I know I’ll never get an answer that will fill the emptiness in my heart.”
Tyga added, “You took one of your best angels back GOD. I hope you know that.”
Though no cause of death was given, one of the pictures included in the post showed Tyga—who recently refuted rumors that Alabama Barker was pregnant with his child—holding Pasionaye’s hand, which bore a hospital wristband with an admittance date of Jan. 11, seven days before her death.
In other pictures from Tyga’s youth, he and his mom smiled wide at the camera as they posed in different settings, including a church and marina.
Concluding his tribute, the “Loco Contigo” rapper made a promise to his mom to always remember her.
“I Love you forever mom,” he wrote, “and I’ll do my best to celebrate you with every moment that I have left.”
