Glen Powell doesn’t want anything to get twisted.
After Sydney Sweeney’s attendance at the wedding of Glen’s sister Leslie Powell made waves online—with fans speculating their onscreen chemistry in Anyone But You had finally found its way off camera following the end of Sydney’s engagement to Jonathan Davino—Glen weighed in on the rumors.
On the coincidence of the wedding falling at the same time as Sydney’s breakup, Glen said with a laugh, “Timing is everything in this world, isn’t it?”
“I mean she and Syd are obviously great friends,” the Top Gun Maverick star elaborated during his April 2 appearance on Jenna & Friends. “It was a hell of a wedding. The Powells know how to do it right, so all the people that love her were there.”
Glen—who said he acted as a kind of master of ceremony, in addition to his role as a groomsman—added of the festivities, “It was just such a fun, rowdy wedding. The Powells know how to crank it up."
The 36-year-old’s comments come after another member of his family already responded to the rumors: his mom Cyndy Powell.
“They’re definitely not together,” she told the Daily Mail March 31, adding that Sydney had attended Leslie’s Texas nuptials “with her friend.”
Cyndy added that any romantic rumors between Glen and Syndey are “silly,” noting how the Euphoria star has become a close friend of the family.
“We love Sydney,” she explained. “We’ve considered her just a really, really good friend. We were all together so much and we haven’t seen her in a long time. She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.”
The speculation comes as just another instance in which fans have wondered if there was something more between Glen and Sydney since their palpable chemistry during Anyone But You—both onscreen and during the film’s press tour.
However, both stars previously shut down rumors. In fact, Glen framed their chemistry as par for the course when it comes to promoting a movie.
“The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry," Glen explained to the New York Times in 2024. “Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry.”
