Tiger King’s Joe Exotic announced he has once again married, tying the knot with a fellow prison inmate.
“Never been more proud of someone,” Joe wrote on X, formerly Twitter, April 21. “Meet my husband Jorge Flores Maldonado.”
The announcement was accompanied by an image of Joe (real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage) and Jorge, né Jorge Marquez, dressed in matching suits, including white baseball caps and boutonnieres, in front of a green screen background of a sunny park and flower arch.
The 62-year-old’s nuptials come six months after he shared the news of his engagement to Jorge in October, at the time writing of his fiancé, “He is so amazing and is from Mexico.”
Joe added on X of his relationship with Jorge, 33, “Now, the quest of getting married in prison and getting him asylum or we be leaving America when we both get out. Either way, I wish I would have met him long ago.”
While the Netflix series subject has found happiness in his Florida prison where he is currently serving a 21-year-sentence, Joe has said he is looking to overturn his conviction for the attempted murder-for-hire of his rival Carole Baskin, long proclaiming his innocence.
In fact, when one X user wished him luck on his case in response to Joe’s wedding news, Joe responded, “On appeal and should win.”
The former big cat owner was previously married to Travis Maldonado—their relationship being featured in Tiger King—before Travis died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound in October 2017. Joe then married Dillon Passage, also featured in the documentary, just months later.
Their relationship, however, ended shortly after Joe began his prison sentence in 2021, with Dillon confirming the split in a since-deleted Instagram post.
“To answer the main question the public wants to know, yes, Joe and I are seeking a divorce,” he wrote at the time. “This wasn't an easy decision to make but Joe and I both understand that this situation isn't fair to either of us. It's something that neither of us were expecting but we are going to take it day by day.”
Dillon—who has since gotten engaged to John Devarti—added of Joe, “I will continue to have Joe in my life. And do my best to support him while he undergoes further legal battles to better his situation.”
