Beyoncé isn’t just her daughters’ protectors.
The “16 Carriages” singer is also her mother’s biggest cheerleader. During her latest Cowboy Carter show in Los Angeles, the Grammy winner invited her mom Tina Knowles onstage to praise her on the success of her Matriarch memoir.
“Today is a big day because my mother, who worked so hard on her book, has the No. 1 book on the New York Times bestsellers,” Beyoncé, 43, announced at the May 1 show as she stood next to Tina and her two daughters Blue Ivy Carter, 13, and Rumi Carter, 7. She then urged the crowd to say, “Congratulations, Mama T!”
And the touching moment didn’t end there. After the audience sent the 71-year-old their well-wishes, Blue and Rumi—who Beyoncé shares with husband Jay-Z—proudly clapped for their grandmother. The singer also joined in on the love, giving her mom a sweet hug before Tina guided Rumi offstage.
Considering Tina—also mom to Solange Knowles, 38, with ex-husband Mathew Knowles—doesn’t join her daughter onstage often, she gushed over the moment on Instagram and noted “it was so much fun to see [the show] from that perspective.”
While the author is making waves on the shelves, Beyoncé—also mom to 7-year-old Sir Carter—has been leaving a lasting impression in Los Angeles since her Cowboy Carter tour kicked off on April 28. In fact, the most iconic sets of the show have been Blue and Rumi’s special appearances—although, seeing the singer confidently ride a gold-plated bull and floating on a horse shoe is just as memorable.
During the tour’s debut, Blue danced with her mom in a newspaper-clad jumpsuit for “America Has a Problem.” She later returned for a few more performances, including her very own dance break during her rendition of her mom’s B-Day classic, “Deja Vu.”
As for her little sister Rumi, she shined during her appearance for “Protector,” which Beyoncé dedicated to her. While performing the dance moves, she happily waved to the crowd before turning to give her mom a hug.
