Watch: Met Gala 2025: Halle Berry Reveals Second “Gorgeous” Dress She Didn't Wear

Halle Berry had not one, but two superfine looks to go.

With the Catwoman alum making her return to the 2025 Met Gala after an eight-year absence in a stunning risqué gown, she was more than prepared when it came to her looks for the evening’s “Tailored For You” dress code, thanks to designer LaQuan Smith.

“It was so fun and so easy,” Halle told E! News while getting a snack at Raising Cane’s after the event. “He showed me some sketches. I chose two that I really liked, so he made two dresses.”

“The dresses were gorgeous,” she continued. “I could hardly choose. I asked LaQuan, ‘Which one would you like me to wear?’ So, I chose his favorite.”

It’s understandable why he was partial to the look as the X-Men star dazzled in a striped gown featuring sheer cutouts from the waist down, which took 1,455 hours to bring to life. (For more with Halle, tune into E! News tonight, May 6, at 11 p.m.)

But the event didn’t end there as the stars made their way into the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a night to remember. With the gala celebrating Black men’s style—going hand in hand with the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”—Stevie Wonder’s surprise performance was perfect.

“That was just like a jaw-dropping moment,” Halle added. “I had no idea that we’d get to see a show like that. He has such a good voice and form. It was a real treat.”

Another highlight for the Oscar winner? Getting Raising Cane’s after the evening came to an end.

Raising Cane’s

“The Cane’s sauce here is the bomb,” she gushed. “It’s good on anything, so they told me I could have a little treat for myself.”

It’s especially rewarding since Halle admitted that she ate light ahead of the Met Gala to ensure her dress fits perfectly. LaQuan explained to Vogue that he was going for “a mix of sexy-Bond-girl meets Harlem Renaissance” for her form-fitting look.

“It captures the theme’s message of self-expression and being bold in the way that you look and dress,” he added. “The dress’s details showcase the ethos of the theme: exaggerated lines, luxurious fabrics, and sheer boldness.”
