Gracie Abrams is staying close to Paul Mescal.
The “That’s So True” singer showed her support for her boyfriend’s new movie History of Sound at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival May 21. While the Normal People actor joined costars Alison Bartlett and Raphael Sbarge on the red carpet ahead of its premiere, Gracie separately stepped out on the red carpet.
For the occasion, the 25-year-old donned a black halter dress with beaded detailing and a matching sheer scarf draped over her arms. Meanwhile, Paul, 29, kept his look simple with an all-black suit set and matching tie.
Back in August, Gracie—the daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams and Katie McGrath—first sparked romance rumors with the Aftersun actor while walking hand-in-hand in London’s Mayfair neighborhood. And though they kept much of their relationship out of the spotlight, Paul was seen supporting the singer at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour two months later as well as joining her for a dinner date in New York City in the following weeks.
In November, the two made their official debut at the Gladiator II Los Angeles premiere after party—though they, once again, walked the carpet separately. Even so, the two were later seen cozying up throughout the night.
And though the “I Love You, I’m Sorry” isn’t necessarily keeping her relationship with Paul—who dated Phoebe Bridgers for two years before their 2022 breakup—a secret, she’s made it clear that she doesn’t want to expose their relationship to public scrutiny.
In fact, when it comes to online chatter surrounding her dating life, she told Nylon in December, “That has nothing to do with me. It doesn’t affect me.”
For his part, Paul feels similarly about keeping his dating life private—especially when it comes to rumors that he has a one-night-stand ritual that ends with him running away after a stroll in the park.
“I mean, the speculation has been kind of mad for the last x amount of years,” he told GQ last October. “I’m not comfortable inviting any access into that part of my life. How I am in my private life is so precious to me because I get very little of it, and it might be public interest, but it’s not public-obligated information.”
