Teddi Mellencamp Confirms New Romance Amid Cancer Battle

Admitting that, on occasion, she might flip the photographers off and shoo them away, she said, “There’s no big story to tell here.”

As for how her new boyfriend is handling all the public attention? Well, he seemed to know exactly what he was getting himself into.  

“I asked him, like, ‘Do I even say your name?’” Teddi recalled, “and he’s, like, ‘It’s really whatever you want to do, I know you’re a public person.’”

Teddi’s new romance comes less than three months after the Bravolebrity opened up about how difficult her dating life has been amid her cancer battle.  

“I had gone on four or five dates with this guy,” Teddi said of a previous fling, who she named “Bob,” in a March episode of her and Erika Jayne’s Diamonds in the Rough podcast. “He was great, funny and nice. The last time I saw him was when I met up with him and his friends to watch the Super Bowl.”

But two days after their football watch party, the 43-year-old remembered calling Edwin—whom she split from last November—to take her to the hospital. There, she learned she had multiple brain tumors. (She has since undergone surgery to have the four tumors removed but announced in March that her cancer had spread to her lungs.) 

After telling Bob about her health scare, the chemistry that had initially existed between them quickly faded away.  

“Bob [called me and said], ‘I was talking with my mom and we both need to know if you’re gonna be in a place to have more kids,’” Teddi recalled of their phone call, which happened while she was still in the hospital. “I cried and said, ‘You’re really hurting my feelings. I don’t think now’s the time to have that conversation.’”
