Watch: Trinity Rodman Slams Wimbledon Coverage Mentioning Estranged Dad Dennis Rodman

Trinity Rodman is issuing a red card to one specific reference.

After a Wimbledon commentator described the soccer star by using her relation to estranged dad Dennis Rodman, she slammed the invocation of the NBA champion while highlighting how she wants the focus to remain on boyfriend Ben Shelton's journey through the famed tennis tournament.

“For Ben’s matches he has his family there as his support system which includes his dad,” Trinity wrote in a July 7 Instagram Story. “My dads not even in MY life no need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don’t even want him talked about during mine.”

The Olympic gold medalist, whose mom is Michelle Moyer, added of Ben’s success at the tennis Major tournament, “It’s him and his loved ones’ moment. Thank you.”

While Trinity was direct about where she stands with her dad, it’s not the first time she has addressed her strained relationship with the former basketball star.

"He's not a dad," she said during a December episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast. "Maybe by blood but nothing else."

"With the dad situation, in terms of what I've filtered and what I've talked about, I feel like me and my brother have been very generous with the way that we've talked about it and very unselfish," Trinity continued. "I think we never want to make him look bad, and that is at the cost of holding in a lot, and a lot of issues we've gone through and just like, trauma, per se."

And still, the 23-year-old struggles with the complexity of her and Dennis’ dynamic.

"Even now, I'm trying to be honest about it, and I'm still giving him sympathy," she said. "Which is frustrating for me because in reality, I think he's an extremely selfish human being. I think everything has always been about him."

Beyond the unwelcome descriptor during the match, Trinity has made sure to support Ben—with whom she confirmed her romance in March—throughout his journey into the second week of Wimbledon. Sitting alongside her, too, has been Ben’s sister Emma Shelton, who Ben referenced during a post-win interview.

“My sister's here. She's been here for every match I've played. She's been the lucky charm,” the 22-year-old said July 5. “But she has work back in the U.S. starting Monday. She works for Morgan Stanley."

Quipping to the crowd, he added, “If any of you all have some [connections] and can get her a couple extra days off so she can [stay and] we can keep this rolling, that’d be great.”

After his plea, Ben shared to his Instagram Story July 6 that his sister was granted extra days off work to support her brother.
