The Kelce family is mourning a heartbreaking loss.
Ed Kelce—dad to brothers Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce—shared an obituary to his Facebook page on Aug. 2, confirming his girlfriend Maureen Anne Maguire had died. She was 74.
“Maureen found joy in life’s simple pleasures,” the obituary read. “She loved the beach—especially the shore—and had a deep affection for dogs.”
Calling Maureen a “natural hostess,” the obituary spoke to her ability to bring people together, throwing parties that were “always full of warmth, laughter, and unforgettable food.”
“She had a rare gift for making friends with strangers and making everyone around her feel special, seen, and welcomed,” her loved ones wrote. “Her presence had a way of turning ordinary moments into something memorable.”
The message also referenced the relationship Ed—who was married to Donna Kelce for 25 years before their split—and Maureen enjoyed together.
“She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog Butch,” it noted. “Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.”
Maureen—who earned a degree from West Chester University and worked as an elementary school teacher before marrying her late husband—is survived by her three children, whom the obituary noted as her “greatest pride,” as well as six grandchildren, her sister and brother.
In addition to funeral details, the obituary asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Penn Heart Transplant Fund, which “provides support to individuals in financial need receiving heart transplants.” No information about Marueen’s cause of death was shared.
Over the years, Ed shared the occasional insight into his relationship with Maureen—including the moment Maureen met Travis’ girlfriend Taylor Swift for the first time.
When Taylor took a photo with Ed, the Kelce patriarch recounted to The Los Angeles Times in 2024, Maureen quipped, “Hey, that’s my boyfriend.”
In another instance, Maureen helped Ed remember just who the pop star was after meeting her only briefly.
“When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to go to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there,” Ed explained on Audacy's 92.3 The Fan in January 2024. “They have a shuttle that comes and picks everybody up and takes them to the game.”
He added, “And Taylor comes in, walks in with a security guard and I look at her… and I had my girlfriend with me, and I mention to Maureen, ‘Oh, my God, I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is.’”
Thankfully, she was able to set him straight.
“‘You don’t know her?’” Ed recalled Maureen replying. “‘This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.’”
It is that lightheartedness that Maureen’s loved ones say will live on. As the obituary concluded, “Her kindness, wit, and gentle strength, left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.”
