Drake White and his wife Alex White are mourning a heartbreaking loss.
The couple shared that their daughter Della Elizabeth White died minutes after being born Aug. 31 at just 29 weeks.
"On Sunday, August 31st our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, went peacefully to be with Jesus," the country singer and his wife—who are parents to William Hawk, 2—wrote in a joint Instagram post Sept. 7. "We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her. The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all."
"We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide," they continued. "May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday."
Drake and Alex, who included a black-and-white photo of themselves holding their baby girl in their post, went on to share two Bible verses in their tribute.
One of them read, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. -Psalm 34:18."
Meanwhile, the second passage said, "I am dying from my grief; my years are shortened by sadness. Misery has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within. But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, 'You are my God!' My future is in your hands. -Psalm 31:10, 14-15."
The couple finished their post by sharing that Della weighed 3 pounds, 3.5 ounces when she was born and was 13.25 inches in length. She was born at 8:52 a.m. before passing away at 9:12 a.m.
Following the devastating news, the country music community showed their support for Drake and Alex, with Jessie James Decker writing, "I am so sorry. I love you and I’m praying for you all. No one should ever go through this kind of pain. I know your sweet girl will always be in your heart and watching over you."
Lauren Alaina also commented, saying, "My hearts aches for you. Sending so much love and prayer your way," while Chase Rice wrote, "Love you buddy."
The couple had previously been open about their years-long struggle to conceive and using IVF after facing several health issues.
“We've been through so much, from my having a stroke on stage to Alex being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and having an autoimmune disorder,” Drake told People in 2022, “And then this was just something else that tested our faith and tested our strength."
