Emilie Kiser is leaning on her online community.
Four months after her and her husband Brady Kiser’s 3-year-old son Trigg tragically drowned in the family’s pool, the TikToker returned to social media amid her grief journey.
“Not gonna lie, I’m really nervous right now,” Emilie said in a Sept. 20 TikTok video while wearing a necklace with her son’s name on it. “I don’t really know if there’s any right way to start this video, but I’m going to do my best.”
“I have missed getting to chat with you guys every day,” she continued. “I really do love this community that we have here, and I hope that in coming back and sharing what I choose to, I can reconnect with you guys and, hopefully, help anyone going through a similar situation.”
Acknowledging that she had been absent from social media for a while, the 26-year-old went on to share that she’s been taking things “day by day” and intends to do the same with her content.
“I’m not going to act like things are fine and dandy, and I don’t want it to come off that way with me coming back and making content again,” Emilie emphasized. “This is really therapeutic for me. I miss talking to you guys, but I don’t know what that’s going to fully look like. I don’t know how much I’m going to be willing to share, especially about my grief journey.”
“The last thing I want to do is get on the internet, cry and say every single way that I’m feeling because I’m really just trying to process everything as best as I can,” she added. “If you are going through anything similar, I just want to say that I love you, I’m here for you and I understand how hard it is.”
And while she went on to share a glimpse into the more mundane parts of her life, the influencer previously expressed that she would be drawing firmer boundaries regarding what she shares online.
“When I started on social media in 2021 as a new mom, my goal was to connect with other moms and find a community,” Emilie—also mom to 6-month-old son Theodore with Brady—wrote in an Aug. 28 Instagram post. “Moving forward I will be establishing more boundaries with what I share online.”
Because the loss of her eldest son quickly showed her that her online relationship lacked healthy boundaries.
“In the future, I hope to be in a place to share more about how I am navigating this grief, but right now all I can say is thank you for the love, compassion, patience and space you've given us to grieve,” she continued. “I am more grateful for it than can ever be expressed.”
