Kelsea Ballerini got emotional as she took the stage for the first time since her breakup from Chase Stokes.
The country star performed at The Riviera Theatre in Chicago Sept. 25 and delivered a heart wrenching rendition of her hit "Penthouse," as seen in a video from @fearisthemindkillr obtained by E! News.
After singing the song's bridge, which has the lyrics, "It hurts putting s--t in a box / And now we don't talk box / And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half," Kelsea waited several extra beats to compose herself and take in the support from the cheering crowd while shaking her head and smiling.
"I kissed someone new last night," she continued singing. "But now I don't know where you're sleeping, baby."
Once the song was over, she momentarily slumped down into her lap, seemingly touched by the overwhelming fan support.
The performance marked Kelsea's first major outing since her rep confirmed to E! News Sept. 14 that she and Chase had broken up after nearly three years of dating.
While she hasn't addressed the breakup directly, the 32-year-old did send a message with a fiery video posted amid speculation about their split, with a message to those weighing in on her first public outing following the breakup to a hair salon.
"CC: speculators, ‘sources’, and hidden cameras outside the hair salon,” she captioned a Sept. 23 video posted to TikTok, set to Ariana Grande's "Shut Up." “Let us be. please.”
While there had been rumors that the pair had broken up this summer, Chase had shut down the speculation in August by posting a sweet pic of her dog Dibs to his Instagram with a red heart emoji.
Indeed, all signs pointed to them still being together up until two days before Kelsea's confirmation of their breakup when the Outer Banks star shared a heartfelt tribute to the "Peter Pan" singer for her birthday.
“Although you keep saying you’re not excited for 32,” he wrote on Instagram Sept. 12 alongside photos of the two, “I’d say I’m lookin’ forward to more of this.”
He added, “Happy birthday my love.”

Taking a deep breath and raising one arm and finger in the air, she finally said, "I can do this. I can do this."
And, after doing a little dance, she proclaimed, "It's just a date. You just go and you just eat food and you talk about things that you do, OK?"
