Madison Maidenberg is explaining what went down when Joe Ferrucci had one too many goblets in Mexico.
Indeed, the Love Is Blind season nine contestant—who opened up about having a degenerative eye condition that could lead to blindness while in the pods—admitted she was “very confused” by her fiancé’s antics at the cast meetup during their getaway.
"At first, I was concerned at how drunk Joe got at the party,” Madison told E! News during an exclusive interview. “I know it's a party and we're all having a good time, but to see somebody carry themselves in that way, it was a little bit confusing because from my perspective, we're here to further our relationship.”
As she noted, “I was so disappointed that he wasn't showing up in that way, that he wasn't showing up for me—that he wasn't being the person that I met in the pods."
As a refresher, after Joe, 29, seemed to have a bit too much fun at a pool party with his fellow castmates, he went back to the couple’s room to sleep it off. And once Madison, 28, came back to check on him, that’s when their conversation simply went left.
"He was asking me questions over and over,” Madison recalled. “He was asking why I changed my outfit when I was wearing the same thing from earlier in the day."
She added, "It was very confusing.”
And she cited “pure exhaustion at that point” as for what led to her reaction.
“Where I'm just so frustrated that there's not this connection that I'm feeling from the pods anymore,” she explained. “And it's like, why is this not clicking when I'm showing up the same exact way that I was in the pods as I am here and I'm not getting that reciprocated."
Though where she and Joe left their relationship remains to be seen, when it comes to her time in the pods overall, Madison is still shocked over how “transformative it was.”
"The Madison that went into the pods is very different than the Madison sitting here now,” she told E!. “You can't hide from yourself there and it brings out so many things in you that you don't realize that are there—and things that you maybe haven't talked about before. I would say I was truly surprised about how enlightening and transformative it was for me individually."
