Tyrese Gibson is facing legal trouble over an incident involving his pets.

Atlanta police have issued an arrest warrant for the Fast and Furious star regarding an animal cruelty investigation, Fulton County Police Animal Services Captain Nicole Dwyer told WSB-TV Sept. 29, after his large dogs allegedly attacked and killed a neighbor’s pet.

“It is negligence on his part as the homeowner and animal owner, just letting them roam free,” Dwyer told the outlet. “And now they have killed an innocent animal."

The incident occurred the evening of Sept. 18, authorities confirmed to multiple outlets, when Gibson’s neighbor Harrison Parker found his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dead in his driveway, and promptly called 911. Parker had let his small dog out into his front yard—where he had an invisible fence—directly across the street from Gibson’s Buckhead property.

“I found my dog dead in the driveway,” Parker told WSB-TV of his pet, named Henry. “Not hearing him around, it’s just awful.”

Authorities say doorbell camera footage showed Gibson’s pets attacking Parker’s spaniel. A search warrant was obtained for Gibson’s property Sept. 22, but the actor, who portrays Roman Pearce in the Fast and Furious franchise, was not home.

In response to the event, Gabe Banks, an attorney for Gibson said in a statement to E! News that the actor extends his “deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home.”

“Upon learning of this unfortunate accident, Mr. Gibson immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment,” the statement continued. “Concerning the misdemeanor warrant, Mr. Gibson is cooperating fully with authorities to address and resolve this matter responsibly.”

Banks noted that Gibson requests “privacy and understanding,” as he handles the situation, adding, “he remains committed to the safety of his community and the well-being of all animals.”
