For George Clooney, his kids’ futures are still up in the air.
The 64-year-old recently shared rare insight into life at home with his and Amal Clooney’s 8-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, including whether or not they’ve already inherited the acting bug.
“I don’t know—it’s so hard to tell at 8,” George told E! News at the Sept. 29 New York Film Festival premiere of his new movie Jay Kelly. “They’re very funny kids, and they love to get up and sing. But you know, I hope they do exactly what they want to do in life, and that’s all you can hope for.”
And on whether they know about their parents’ careers—both George’s on the screen and Amal’s as a human rights lawyer—the Good Night and Good Luck star detailed a recent adorable interaction.
"They have some idea,” he admitted. “My kid came up to me the other day and said, ‘Papa what’s “famous?” Somebody in my class said you’re famous.’ I said, ‘Tell that kid I’m very famous.’”
But despite his kids’ understanding that their dad is someone people know about, it’s not because they’ve witnessed him in action on the big screen—at least not as his human self.
“They saw Fantastic Mr. Fox,” he said, before quipping, “I won’t let them see Batman & Robin, I want them to have respect for me.”
When it comes to the rest of his films, however, George said his kids are “still a little young.”
It should come as no surprise that the Ocean’s Eleven actor’s children are still confused by the concept of fame. After all, he and Amal have been clear about their intentions to keep their twins out of the spotlight.
As Amal previously explained to Glamour in an interview published July 3, "We do the best we can to minimize any impact on our children. We don’t put our children out there, we’ve never put their photo out there or anything like that."
And while the 47-year-old had grown accustomed to life in the public eye alongside George, she added, “I would say becoming a parent means you’re more troubled by some of the intrusions."
Thankfully, she has the perfect partner in her husband of 10 years, who is more than ready to tackle everything life throws their way.
“I feel so incredibly lucky to share every day with him," Amal added. "And now we’re four. And I don’t take any of it for granted. I treasure the laughter and the joy that I get from just being with them.”
George, too, can’t help but gush over his wife.
"I have this incredible partner who I couldn’t be more proud of,” the Oscar winner told E! News June 8. “She’s the bravest human being I’ve ever met in my life. I am deeply proud of her and the fact that she’s in any way proud of me...I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
