Taylor Swift is grateful she didn't ruin the friendship with this mishap.
After all, the "Life of a Showgirl" singer shared the very understandable reason she forgot to tell her longtime pal Ed Sheeran that she had gotten engaged to Travis Kelce.
"He doesn't have a phone," Taylor revealed on the Oct. 6 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "You have to email him. If you want to set up a FaceTime, he has to find an iPad. They have to give it to him like he's a child that you give the iPad to."
"This is one of my absolute favorite people on the planet," she emphasized. "When the news came out, I was like, 'We forgot to call Ed! Oh no!' He's like family. I love him. But he doesn't have a phone."
When the 35-year-old had gotten engaged to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in August, she had a method to contact their loved ones with the news.
"When I'm going through, being like, 'Hey, who should we call? Who should we FaceTime?'" she recalled, "I'm going through my texts and being like, 'Who have I texted in the last month of my life?' And he just wasn't there."
Meanwhile, Ed made it clear there was no bad blood between the duo. He cheekily commented on a TikTok clip of the segment, "Hello from my allotted iPad time, this is factual."
The "Shape of You" singer made the eyebrow-raising lifestyle decision in 2015 and hasn't looked back since. He only carries a phone, thanks to his team, to "video stuff that would then go up on social media."
"It's not like an active, working phone," he explained on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast in June. "I had the same number from age 15. I got famous and I had 10,000 contacts in my phone and people would just text me the whole time."
"I feel like, with phone, everyone expects you to reply and if you don't reply, it's rude," he continued. "Sometimes you're just not in a headspace to reply or you're busy."
Now, the 34-year-old—who shares daughters Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 2, with wife Cherry Seaborn—keeps a very structured schedule around screentime.
"I got an iPad, and I moved everything onto email, which I reply to once a week,” he added. “I have an hour of my time on Thursday or Friday. I sit down, usually in the car, I blast all the emails, catch up, do all the talking to whoever and then that's it.”

Eight years after sharing in an ELLE article that she had been battling a rare type of bone cancer—her fake diagnosis even inspiring a storyline on Grey's Anatomy—show writer Elisabeth Finch admitted in December it was all a ruse.
"I told a lie when I was 34 years old and it was the biggest mistake of my life. It just got bigger and bigger and bigger and got buried deeper and deeper inside me," Elisabeth told The Ankler newsletter Dec. 7, adding, "I've never had any form of cancer."
Summed up Finch, who was placed on administrative leave from the ABC medical drama before eventually resigning, said, "What I did was wrong. Not okay. F--ked up. All the words."
