Another recruit has bit the dust—quit literally.

Jussie Smollett became the fourth celebrity to drop out of season four of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test during the Fox reality competition series' Oct. 9 episode.

For their day three challenge, the stars were dropped into a simulated war zone and tasked with locating and extracting "fallen comrades" while navigating tough terrain, obstacles and fake explosions in the brutal heat of the Moroccan desert.

The physically demanding exercise left many of the season four hopefuls—which include Gia Giudice, Kody Brown, Shawn Johnson and husband Andrew East, among others—completely exhausted and weakened after exerting so much effort in the strenuous obstacle course. However, Jussie was determined to power through.

"My older sister told me, 'Jussie, you do not have to prove anything,'" the Empire alum reflected in a confessional. "But I do. I want to show myself that I can do it."

In addition to nearly throwing up mid-exercise, Jussie developed a nasty cough that became worse and constant even afterwards when the group returned to their base camp. And Jussie's costars took notice of his new breathing issues.

As a worried Jessie James Decker asked him, "You alright, honey? If you need to go to the medic, go to the medic."

Jussie agreed, replying, "I'm just gonna go and get checked out really quick. Just gonna see him for a second."

And while Jussie attempted to downplay his condition by noting it's "probably not" serious, Jessie warned, "Well, it doesn't sound good."

While getting checked out by Special Forces' Dr. Andy Brown, the Chief Medical Officer used a stethoscope to listen to Jussie's lungs before declaring, "You've got inflammation all throughout your chest. Is it hurting every time you cough?"

The 43-year-old confirmed it was painful.

In a confessional, Jussie became emotional at the thought of going home early. "There's a fight in me," the actor insisted. "I know that now more than any other time in my life."

Unfortunately for Jussie, Dr. Andy revealed that he had "developed an allergy to something in the dust," adding that "his chest sounds horrendous."

Based on Andy's advice, the boot camp team had to deliver bad news to Jussie.

"I know you're upset about it, but your chest is too bad," Andy explained. "I'm afraid I'm gonna have to medically withdraw you."

Director Jason Fox noted the matter was "out of our hands" before taking Jussie's armband.

The decision left Jussie in tears as he reflected in a confessional, "There have been too many opportunities in my life to quit on things, on myself, and I don't quit easily."
