Before her own arrest, Dr. Wendy Osefo expressed support for her costar Karen Huger.
The Real Housewives of Potomac star recently signaled she was open to Karen returning to the show following her September release from prison, where she served six months behind bars for a DUI case.
"I have not spoken to her since her release," Wendy told Deadline in an interview posted Oct. 8, one day before she and her husband Eddie Osefo were arrested and indicted for fraud. "However, I feel like everybody should be given the opportunity to have a platform to tell their own story. There’s no point or purpose in your story being told by others."
A Maryland grand jury indicted Wendy and Eddie on Oct. 9 for felony counts of fraud—seven for her and nine for her spouse—plus eight misdemeanor counts of conspiracy fraud and one count of giving a false statement to a police officer for both, according to court records obtained by E! News.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the couple was arrested that day for allegedly fraudulently reporting a burglary and theft at their home in April 2024.
At the time of the incident, Wendy and Eddie told authorities "they returned from vacation to find that their home had been entered and numerous items had been stolen," the sheriff's office said in a statement on Facebook Oct. 10. "They reported approximately 80 items of jewelry, luxury goods, clothing, and shoes were stolen, worth a total of more than $200,000."
"During the investigation, detectives found that over $20,000 of the items reported stolen had been returned by the owners to the locations the items were purchased," the message continued. "Further, detectives found images of a homeowner wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen after the burglary took place."
Following the duo's indictment, arrest warrants were issued for them and a search warrant was issued for their residence. After Wendy and Eddie—who’ve yet to publicly address their arrests—were taken into custody and charged, they posted $50,000 bonds and were released. The pair are due back in court in November, court records show.
