Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS shapewear company dropped its most controversial product yet: a line of faux pubic hair string micro thongs, available in red, blonde and brunette colorways and straight and curly textures.
“How funny are these?” Kim asked her followers in an Oct. 14 Instagram Story, flaunting a few samples of the new panties. “We have different colors, different hair. This is insane. Skims, baby.”
Naturally, Kim’s fans were floored by the synthetic body hair accessory. The product—described on the SKIMS website as the brand’s “most daring panty yet"—nearly sold out across all sizes and styles within hours of the first drop.
However, other social media users who took in the drop were a bit less pleased. As one fan wrote in an Oct. 14 post to X, “Kim Kardashian done lost her mind with them new underwear.”
“Oh Kim can’t be serious,” another wrote on X alongside a screenshot of the product. “BUSH PANTIES???”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Kim has made waves with a SKIMS product. In July, Kim rolled out a line of face wraps, or the brand’s “first-ever face innovation.”
“We’re going to offer really amazing face shapewear, which is such a necessity,” Kim said in an Instagram Story at the time. “It just snatches your little chinny chin chin with the jaw, and it’s super comfortable to wear at night or just around the house.”
While many fans pointed out that the wrap wouldn’t do much to sculpt one’s face, another posited that the product could be great for those with temporomandibular joint disorders, quipping, “Those hating clearly don’t know what TMJ feels like.”
And in May, the shapewear brand launched a bra with faux pierced nipples—an upgrade from its 2023 nipple bra line.
As one fan wrote to X in response to the product at the time, “Skims is slowly becoming a social experiment.”
Another joked, “She is running out of things to sell us."
