Turns out Dax Shepard doesn’t want this.
Though the Armchair Expert podcast host is immensely supportive of his wife Kristen Bell’s hit Netflix show Nobody Wants This, the Veronica Mars actress revealed there’s “not a chance” her husband will be taking time away from his passion to make an onscreen appearance.
“He likes podcasting a lot,” Kristen told E! News correspondent Will Marfuggi at the show’s Oct. 16 premiere. “He would if I asked him, but I don't want him to do something that he doesn't want to do.”
And she feels the same about his work projects, adding, “If he was like, ‘Would you podcast with me every day of your life?’ I’d be like, ‘No.’”
But while Dax isn’t interested in starring in Nobody Wants this—which returns to Netflix for season two Oct. 23—he still enjoys hanging out on set.
“He comes for lunch and stuff,” Kristen continued, “so he plays a lot off camera.”
The acting bug hasn’t totally been squashed among the Good Place star’s family members, though. In fact, the couple’s eldest daughter Lincoln, 12, may just be following in her mom’s footsteps.
“My oldest daughter does quite a bit of theater and loves musical theater,” Kristen explained. “She's cut from my cloth, and it's incredible.”
The 45-year-old—who is also mom to 10-year-old Delta with Dax—gushed about Lincoln’s “deep-cut Broadway knowledge,” adding, “She'll be to me, like, ‘Hey, did you know Jeremy Jordan's going back into the Great Gatsby in November?’ And I'm like, ‘Yes, I do.’”
As for how Kristen feels about watching her kid take to the acting stage?
“Makes me so happy, because she's happy,” she explained. “That's how I found out how to express myself and where I found my best moments, my happiest moments.”
Plus, she noted, “Theater kids are the best group of people out there. So, what more could I want for her?”
