The Outer Banks set reportedly grew heated.
During filming on Oct. 22, an alleged incident occurred in which executive producer Jonas Pate reportedly got physical with a female production assistant, TMZ reported, citing multiple sources with direct knowledge, and which People confirmed. Stars Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes both intervened, per the outlets.
According to People, Jonas—who co-created the series alongside twin Josh Pate and Shannon Burke—screamed at the PA and allegedly shook her by the shoulders.
The alleged incident occurred during filming of the series’ fifth and final season in Croatia, per TMZ. According to the outlet, tensions had been high on set before the altercation allegedly occurred. The outlet reports that Chase separated the pair while Madelyn also stepped in in an attempt to deescalate the situation.
E! News has reached out to Netflix and as well as reps for Jonas, Chase and Madelyn for comment but has not yet heard back.
Since launching on Netflix in 2020, Outer Banks—which saw a ragtag group of teens from the eponymous region of North Carolina turn into international treasure hunters—has become a beloved series on the streaming platform.
In addition to Madelyn and Chase, the show also stars Drew Starkey, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Jonathan Daviss and Carlacia Grant. Jonas’ daughter Lilah Pate—who stars in the new show The Runarounds—has also appeared on the series.
After the show’s penultimate fourth season ended with a bang in November—with Rudy’s character JJ being killed—Jonas, Shannon and Josh confirmed the series’ upcoming fifth season would be its last.
"From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship," the trio shared in a message posted to the Outer Banks Instagram. "At the time, seven years ago, it seemed impossible that we would really get to tell the whole five season story, but here we are, at the end of our fourth season, still chopping away."
They continued, “Now, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we're putting Season Four behind us, and are turning to Season Five. In which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago."
Following the news, Chase shared a message to the show’s loyal fans.
"My hearts heavy writing this one.." the 33-year-old posted to Instagram. "One last ride. Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You've given us more than we could ever give back to you. It's always gonna be Pogues 4 Life."
