Isn't Liam Hemsworth's engagement romantic?
The Hunger Games actor and Gabriella Brooks recently got engaged after six years of dating, and now he's sharing some details about his proposal.
Liam told Savannah Guthrie on the Oct. 27 episode of the Today show that he's "incredibly excited" about taking the next step in their relationship and noted that he popped the question "a few months ago."
The 35-year-old also noted that, despite recently vacationing in the Maldives after he wrapped filming on The Witcher, he and Gabriella did not get engaged there.
"We went there recently," he explained. "I finished shooting about three weeks ago and went straight to a tropical island and let my hair down…or took my hair off."
Regardless of where it happened, the Last Song actor and his model fiancée, 29, couldn't be happier as they start this next chapter. "But no, we're super excited," he gushed. "It's a happy time in life."
Gabriella first announced their engagement with a black-and-white photo of her and Liam together in which she draped her arms around his shoulders with her brand new diamond ring on her left hand. In the Sept. 12 Instagram post, she also included a photo of waves and one of her hand that gave a closer look at her sparkler.
The couple was first spotted out together back in 2019 when the Isn't It Romantic? actor introduced Gabriella to his parents.
While they tend to keep their personal lives private, a source close to Liam—who was married to Miley Cyrus until their divorce in 2019—exclusively told E! News at the time, "His relationship with Gabriella is very different from Miley. They like the same things and have the same lifestyle."
They also do occasionally post about one another on social media, like in January when Gabriella gushed about Liam on Instagram to celebrate his 35th birthday, captioning a carousel of pictures with a yellow heart and the message, “Happy Birthday to my sunshine.”
