More details of Allison Mack’s life after NXIVM are coming to light.
Five months after news broke that she had tied the knot with a man named Frank, her husband was identified as Frank Meeink—a self-described former neo-Nazi who was a member of a white supremacist skinhead gang—by podcast host Natalie Robehmed during the couple's appearance on the Allison After NXIVM podcast.
The pair first met at a dog park in Los Angeles in February 2024, almost a year after Allison was released following two years in prison for racketeering conspiracy and acts for her involvement in NXIVM, a purported self-help group that has since been characterized as a sex cult by former members.
Allison, 43, and Frank, 50, bonded over their experiences in the prison system, with Frank explaining how his past helped him understand her story.
"From the work that I've done with former jihadists, former gangbangers, former neo-Nazis, I mean, I've worked in that world for a long time,” Frank said on the episode, released Nov. 10. “People don't understand what it's like when you get stuck in something like that. And it's the one thing that validates you. It's hard to get out."
But their first conversation was about something else altogether.
“The first thing I heard was he said, ‘Your dog has such pretty pink skin,’” Allison recalled on the podcast. “He has a very thick East Coast accent and so I immediately was like, ‘Are you from New York? ‘Cuz I love New York.’”
After learning Frank was from Philadelphia, Allison began describing the art museums she loves in the area, prompting him to open up about his upbringing.
“He was like, ‘Yeah, I'm not from that part of Philly,’” she recalled. “And I was like, ‘Oh, where are you from?’ He's like, ‘I'm from South Philly. It's kind of the hood.’”
After visiting him at the Thai restaurant he worked at, Allison learned that Frank—who said in his autobiography Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead that he went to prison at 17 for kidnapping one man and nearly killing another—had turned his life around.
“He was like, ‘Oh, I'm a public speaker,’ and I was like, ‘What do you speak on?’ and he was like, ‘Oh, just like tolerance and de-radicalization and police reform,’” Allison recounted. “And I was like, ‘No way. I have done time and I'm really passionate about prison reform. That's crazy.’"
After connecting on their hopes to implement positive change in the prison system, she asked if he had seen the Steven Spielberg documentary Why We Hate, to which he told her he was featured in the series.
Since leaving prison, Frank’s experience has led him into public speaking, civil rights activism and “testifying in front of a House subcommittee in 2020 on white supremacy in policing,” according to Natalie.
Given his past, though, Frank was able to listen to Allison’s experience in NXIVM with understanding.
“She wasn't defending anything,” Frank recalled on the podcast. “She was just like, ‘Here's the deal. A bunch of women got branded. This is one of the reasons why I went to prison.”
Allison even described her time in NXIVM—founded by Keith Raniere—as “part of this cult," according to Frank.
“It was this sex cult with this guy,” he continued. “She used the word ‘cult.’ She was like, ‘He turned it into this cult.”
And after Allison told Frank about her experience, he was able to assuage her worries that he judged her past.
“I just looked at her and said, ‘I’m a former neo-Nazi who used to kidnap people,’” he said. “‘Do you think I have any room to judge you?’”
Frank added, “‘No, I don’t judge you at all.’”
