Watch: ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Robert Irwin Responds to Xochitl Gomez Dating Rumors

Robert Irwin is waltzing away from the rumor mill.

The Dancing With the Stars contestant expertly dodged a question about whether he's dating Xochitl Gomez after the pair sparked romance speculation with their intimate dance during the show's 20th anniversary celebration Nov. 11.

"Oh my gosh, we had the best time," Robert told TMZ of performing a jive routine with the Marvel actress for the dance relay portion of the episode. "That dance was so much fun."

And the 21-year-old emphasized that it was refreshing to do such high-energy choreography with Xochitl—who was one of six Mirrorball Trophy winners to return to Dancing With the Stars for the anniversary special—after performing a foxtrot in tribute to his late father Robert Irwin alongside his pro partner Witney Carson and sister Bindi Irwin earlier in the evening.

"It was so cool to do two, such distinct dances," Robert explained. "Like, one that was really slow and heartfelt. And then the dance with Xochitl which was just like energy and fun."

He added, "She's the best, it's been really, really great."

Indeed, Robert may not be willing to confirm or deny any romance rumors, but he's certainly not shy about reflecting on what it was like to share the ballroom with Xochitl, who won season 32 of the ABC competition series.

In fact, he previously provided insight into what the training process looked like in the week leading up to the duo's Nov. 11 routine.

"The thing that Xochitl brings is so much energy and fun and passion," Robert told Deadline in an interview published Nov. 12. "It feels like we're so on the same wavelength when it comes to approaching the jive. We're like, 'Make sure it's really fun and then Witney can come in and make sure your toes are pointed.'"

And Witney, 32, confirmed that fun was certainly had between Xochitl, 19, and Robert. As she quipped in the joint interview, "I never felt more old than when they were in the studio."

"There were just lots of giggles and lots of I don't even know," the choreographer continued. "But they are extremely hard workers and they got the job done."
