Megan Moroney's new album won’t be completely filled with sad songs for sad people.

However, there may be parts that do. As the country singer put it, Cloud 9—set to be released Feb. 20, 2026—draws from her own life experiences, including both the best and hardest parts of being in a relationship.

"I literally write about my real life," she exclusively told E! News Nov. 19 at the 2025 CMA Awards. "There will definitely be songs on the album where you're trying to put the pieces together."

As to whether the album will be more focused on love or heartbreak? The "Tennessee Orange" singer shared, "A little bit of both."

And for Megan, who performed her single "6 Months Later" in a sparkly pink get-up at the award ceremony, that girly aesthetic behind the album is more than just a style choice.

"I chose pink because I think there is a softness about this music that isn’t in my other albums," she told Variety in an interview published Nov. 19. "I think it’s come from the confidence that I have now. It’s about falling in love and falling out of love, but when you’re truly confident, it’s not the end of the world when it doesn’t work out."

She continued, "My other albums, maybe I perceived it as the end of the world. Now this new music is just more carefree and confident. So I thought pink was a perfect color to feel empowering and confident, but also soft, and that’s what the new music is like.”

But despite the upbeat vibe of the upcoming record, she emphasized, “There’s definitely still some heartbreakers."

"Writing sad songs is so easy for me, for whatever reason," she added. "But even in the saddest songs, there’s so much hope and confidence that it’s gonna be OK, which is definitely a new theme that I explored in this album."
