Serena Williams is training up the next great tennis star.
Indeed, the 23-time Grand Slam champion shared a rare peek at her and husband Alexis Ohanian’s 2-year-old daughter Adira during a hitting session on a tennis court.
In pictures shared to Instagram Nov. 24, Serena volleyed a ball to the toddler, who held her own racket and swung. In one snap, Adira stood next to her mom while the retired athlete talked her daughter through the motions.
Serena—also mom to daughter Olympia, 8, with the Reddit founder—commemorated the touching memory by writing in the caption, “This is me sharing my passion for tennis with my youngest daughter.”
In addition to sharing her and sister Venus Williams’ favorite sport with Adira, Serena—who is an owner of the Los Angeles Golf Club with Alexis—is also getting her into golf, as seen in an August Instagram post of the 2-year-old swinging a golf club on the family’s home putting green.
But her love of sports is not the only side-hustle the Wyn Beauty founder, 44, has included her daughters in. In fact, Serena elicited Olympia and Adira’s help for a limited-edition fashion collection with children’s clothing brand Janie and Jack earlier this year, even noting her eldest helped design some of the pieces.
“Olympia has been picking out her own outfits since she was little, so of course, she had opinions,” Serena told Parents Magazine in March. “She was hands-on with color and pattern choices, and luckily, we were on the same page with our favorites.”
Beyond having sweet collaborations together, though, Serena simply wants to raise her daughters to be the best versions of whoever they become.
“I want them to always be certain of who they are and never shy away from being themselves,” she continued. “Whether it’s through fashion or in life, it’s about celebrating what sets them apart and feeling strong and comfortable with who they are.”
