Adam Sandler Shares What It Means to Have His Daughters Follow in His Footsteps

Adam Sandler is happy his daughters are pursuing their acting dreams.

The Happy Gilmore star shared his thoughts about his and wife Jackie Sandler's kids Sadie Sandler, 19—who plays his daughter in his new movie Jay Kelly—and Sunny Sandler, 17, following in his footsteps onscreen.

"They're both really good kids and they love acting and they're kind of into it, wanting to do it with their life," Adam told E! News in an exclusive interview at the 2025 Gotham Film Awards on Dec. 1. "So just pulling for them, want them to have a good, happy life."

While Sadie and Sunny—who also joined their father in films such as Happy Gilmore 2 and You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah—often take career advice, they aren’t exactly following directly behind him. Namely, they are opting to forgo performing comedy onstage.

"They listen to me and then they've got their own path they wanna do," Adam, 59, explained. "I was a standup comedian and they don't wanna get in that. They wanna just act."

And that approach is perfectly fine for the Saturday Night Live alum. He continued, "They're really funny, nice kids and whatever the hell they wanna do, I want them to be happy."

Ultimately, Adam is his kids' no. 1 fan—onscreen and off.

"I just like being around them, whether it's on set or at home," he said. "When we're clicking, it's the best."

And has Adam has previously shared insight into Sadie and Sunny as costars, revealing what it’s like for him to see them at work on set. 

“Once they do it well, nothing feels better as a parent," the Billy Madison star told E! News in an exclusive interview in July. "It must be like when you're the parents of a baseball player and you're at the game and they get a hit. You just go, ‘Thank God.' It's just so much relief."
