The story behind Craig Melvin's earring will melt your heart.
The Today anchor was interviewing Jamie Lee Curtis when the Oscar-winning actress asked him about his piercing.
"What's the blue dot in your ear?" she asked on the Nov. 3 episode of Today. "Tell me the story."
Craig shared that his decision to get his ear pierced was a result of a nerves-filled outing with his daughter Sybil, 9, to get her ears pierced.
"My daughter, years ago, she went to go get her ears pierced and she got cold feet," he recalled. "And in a moment of haste, I was like, ‘If I do it, will you do it?’ And she’s like, ‘Yes!’ And I got it, and that's why I have it."
Naturally, Jamie melted when the morning show host—who shares Sybil and Delano, 11, with wife Lindsay Czarniak—finished the story.
"Oh, come on!" she exclaimed. "That's gorgeous."
Craig, who then redirected the conversation because, as he noted, he was "blushing" at Jamie's praise, had previously shared the story behind his piercing back when it happened before Sybil's fifth birthday.
"It was good for the family," he told Today.com back in 2021. "It was great bonding."
This isn't the only confession that Craig has made on Today recently, either.
During a recent stint guest co-hosting Today with Jenna & Friends alongside Jenna Bush Hager, the 46-year-old—who has been on Today since 2018—revealed that he has never watched the show.
“This is a nice set,” he said during the Nov. 3 episode of the daytime series, looking around the studio’s vibrant setup. “You know, I’ve never seen the show.”
Jenna, 43, was stunned by his admission, replying, "That is so rude! Did you just hear him say he’s never watched the show?"
While Craig had an explanation for his faux pas, he also admitted that he could try a little harder to catch his coworker's show.
"I’m usually in transit,” he explained. "I could probably watch some of it."
