Dakota Mortensen is setting the record straight.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star—who shares son Ever, 21 months, with ex Taylor Frankie Paul—dispelled claims on social media that he suffered a lapse in his sobriety and was under the influence at the series' recent season three reunion.
"I took a little break there because I was, if I'm honest with you, I was struggling a little bit," Dakota said in a video posted to Instagram Dec. 9. "Obviously, the reunion thing was a s--t show."
"I think more whenever I see videos circulating of me claiming that I'm high or I relapsed," he went on. "There's very few things I feel proud of when it comes to myself, and I think one of those is being Ever's dad and my recovery."
The 32-year-old went on to explain that it's been a challenge for him to navigate difficult situations this year while also maintaining his sobriety.
"I am proud of myself because I have stayed sober through some of the hardest s--t I've ever been through in my entire life," he said, "and even in that situation or that setting, that is why it's so hard on me. I am actually facing some of those situations or settings sober for the first time ever in my life."
"My body is in full fight or flight the entire time," Dakota added. "I've been sober this whole time and apparently everybody else in the world thinks I'm not. And honestly it hurts."
The TikToker continued to "clear up some things" about the Dec. 4 reunion special, denying that he had the Mormon Wives cast cleared from the stage ahead of his own appearance or that he knew that Taylor's parents were going to be in attendance.
"If you think I have the power to kick the girls off the stage? Thank you! That means a lot to me," he said sarcastically. "I don't have the power to do that. Did I know her parents were going to be there? No. Did I know any of that was going to happen? No! That's called, 'blindside, blindside, blindside.'"
Dakota claimed that he "didn't even want to go" because he had a cease and desist from an undisclosed person that prevented him from speaking freely on the events of the season.
"So when you see my stuttering trying to explain stuff, my bad," he explained. "I've never had one of those in my life. I'm petrified. I don't know s--t. I'm sitting there scared to death of saying anything."
Dakota ended the video by expressing his gratitude to those who have supported him through the ups and downs and calling out his skeptics one last time.
"Super grateful for all the people who check in on me and made sure I was OK," he said, "and didn't continue to just be bullies, which there's a few of you and I hope you never go through anything super hard."
