A tragic discovery was made at Rob Reiner's home.
Two people were found dead inside the When Harry Met Sally director, 78, and wife Michele Singer Reiner's house in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on Dec. 14, NBC LA—citing multiple law enforcement sources—reported.
According to the outlet, the LA Fire Department said "a man and a woman were found deceased inside, approximately 78 and 68 years old."
Robbery Homicide Division responded to the residence, officials shared in a statement to NBC News, noting the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed.
E! News has reached out to Rob's rep and authorities for comment and has yet to hear back.
While Rob, the son of the late actors Carl Reiner and Estelle Reiner, is known for directing The Princess Bride and Stand By Me, he got his start in the business as an actor, landing the role of Michael "Meathead" Stivic in All in the Family in his early 20s.
It was earlier in life when Rob—who recently appeared in Hulu's The Bear alongside Jeremy Allen White—thought about changing his name.
"My father thought, 'Oh, my God, this poor kid is worried about being in the shadow of a famous father,'" he recalled to 60 Minutes in Oct. 2025. "And he says, 'What do you want to change your name to?' And I said, 'Carl.' I just wanted to be like him."
Rob got his big break as a director with 1984's This Is Spinal Tap, kicking off a decades-long career behind the camera.
Amid his growing career, Rob was in a relationship with fellow filmmaker Penny Marshall. They were married from 1971-1981 and shared a daughter, Tracy Reiner, before Penny's passing in 2018.
Eight years later, Rob tied the knot with Michele—who he met during production of When Harry Met Sally—and welcomed kids Jake Reiner, Nick Reiner and Romy Reiner.
