Watch: Sobbing Teyana Taylor Sends Message to "Little Brown Girls" After Golden Globes Win

Teyana Taylor certainly made it at the 2026 Golden Globes.

The One Battle After Another actress took home the award for Best Supporting Female Actor in a Motion Picture during the Jan. 11 ceremony, beating out fellow nominees Ariana Grande (Wicked: For Good), Amy Madigan (Weapons), Emily Blunt (The Smashing Machine), Elle Fanning (Sentimental Value) and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value).

Teyana was overcome with emotion as she took the stage at the Beverly Hilton during the Nikki Glaser-hosted ceremony to accept her award. (Click here for all the winners.)

“I almost didn’t even write a speech,” the 35-year-old told the crowd through tears, before shouting out her children "Junie" Tayla, 10, and Rue Rose, 5. “Oh my babies, my babies are upstairs watching. Y’all better be off them damn phones and watching me right now.”

Teyana also had an emotional message for her fellow “brown sisters and little brown girls” who were watching the ceremony.

“Our softness is not a liability. Our death is not that,” she said from the stage. “It's not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”

The win was an important one for the “Made It” singer, as she previously shared how hands-on she was with director Paul Thomas Anderson when it came to creating her character of Perfidia Beverly Hills, especially the character’s experience with postpartum depression.

“I feel like it’s a topic that’s not spoken about enough,” she told Variety in an interview published Jan. 3. “I was anxious and excited to start getting into those layers.”

And despite the judgement her character faced from audiences, Teyana had no qualms about playing the role.

“[Perfidia] makes decisions that we may not all agree with,” she explained, “but we can all agree on the fact that she’s unapologetically herself and stands 10 toes down on a lot of things that we probably wouldn’t have been able to do at one point.”

“Especially as a woman,” Teyana continued, “we’re told we’re too confident, we got to tone it down. Here we see this woman. It’s like ‘No, you won’t quiet me. You won’t set me down. I won’t play house with you.’”
