A new batch of award nominations are here sporting a new face.

The Actor Awards—previously known as the SAG Awards before the Screen Actors Guild voted to change the name in November—announced its slate of nominees for the upcoming March ceremony celebrating the best that TV and film had to offer throughout 2025. This year's nominations were announced by Abbott Elementary's Janelle James as well as Heated Rivalry's Connor Storrie.

If the Actor nominations following a similar pattern to that of Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globe nominations, it is likely that Sinners, One Battle After Another, Hamnet and Marty Supreme—with nods for individual performances from the likes of Jessie Buckley, Michael B. Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet—will be among the top contenders on the film side of the house.

Meanwhile, on the TV side of the house, the stars of shows such as Adolescence, The Pitt and Severance are likely to dominate the lists. After all, Owen Cooper, Erin Doherty and Stephen Graham—all from Adolescence—as well as Katherine LaNasa and Tramell Tillman all earned awards at the Critics Choice Awards.

Each year, the Screen Actors Guild award show honors individual, ensemble and stunt performances from film and TV projects.

But this year, thirty years after the ceremony’s founding, the show will come with a new name: The Actor Awards

For SAG-AFTRA union leaders, the voting was held to ensure the show’s title made “obvious sense” for new viewers, especially after the show’s move to Netflix in 2024.

"We wanted to provide clearer recognition in terms of what the show is about for our domestic and global audiences," show runner Jon Brockett and SAG-AFTRA chair JoBeth Williams shared in a joint announcement on Nov. 14. "We honor actors in film and television. Laser-focusing the name on those two things became the clearest and most straightforward path for this new chapter of the show."

Plus, it didn’t hurt that the show’s logo and statuette have always been called “The Actor,” making the new name seem an obvious choice.

Otherwise, Jon and JoBeth promise business as usual: “Only the show name is changing. The foundation remains the same, it’s actors honoring actors."
