And Teresa Giudice's confusion continues.
Unseen footage from Andy Cohen's special Watch What Happens Live interview with the Real Housewives of New Jersey star and husband Joe Giudice, who have both been sentenced to time in prison on fraud charges, has been released, in which the couple shares what they hope to teach their children from their legal troubles in addition to revealing what's next for the reality pair.
The 42-year-old Bravo star began by explaining why she said that she "didn't understand" the reason behind her sentencing. "I meant, like, I never hurt anyone," she clarified. "I never tried to hurt anyone, I was never malicious to anyone, like, behind their back. That's what I meant when I was saying that. But I understand why it's happening, because, you know, in black-and-white, what I was signing. So sometimes, Andy, I'm misunderstood by the way I say things."
Cohen then read a statement from Judge Salas saying how she thought about probation for Teresa "but felt that a period of confinement was absolutely necessary in this case" because the reality star does not "understand or respect the law."
"Do you think you have respect for the law?" Cohen inquired.
"I certainly do," the mother of four responded without hesitation. "That's why my mom was crying. I was in shock. I do have respect for the law. I've always filed my taxes, I've always done everything by the book. I mean, I'm on TV."
Asked how the couple plans to pay $400,000 in restitution and another $10,000 to the government, Teresa responded, "We're gonna work." They also said they've gotten "some bites" on the properties they've put up for sale while adding that they plan to stay in the New Jersey area.
Per tradition on WWHL, viewers called into the clubhouse and asked the couple questions. One fan wondered what the couple hopes to teach their children from their experience. "Before you sign something, you make sure you read it carefully," Teresa replied. "And if you don't understand the contract, try to get someone out there who understands contracts."
As for what's next for Teresa now that she has officially been sentenced to 15 months in prison? "Oh, I don't know. I'm not thinking about that. I'm just going to do what I have to do and then after that we'll see what happens."
She added: "My daughters. Whatever's next with them. That's all I think about."
