Superheroes are never off-duty!

On Monday, 33-year-old Captain America: The Winter Soldier star Chris Evans visited 9-year-old fan Kenny Botting at Christopher's Haven, a Boston-based center for children who are battling cancer.

Botting, who has a brain tumor, has been staying with his mother and sister at Christopher's Haven as he undergoes treatment next door at Massachusetts General Hospital. Evans surprised Botting with gifts, and he autographed memorabilia and posed for pictures with other residents. The young boy even got the chance to do something few villains have managed to pull off—tie Captain America up with a rope!

Evans also got a tour of the facility, courtesy of Botting.

"It's their strength that gives me strength," Evans told a local CBS affiliate. "No matter what hurdles are in my life it's nothing compared to what these families go through, so any way I can bring a smile it's worth it." Botting, meanwhile, said he was "more than happy" and thanked Evans "for coming" to visit.

Evans is in town to help raise money for Christopher's Haven at a special event Jan. 3. The Avengers: Age of Ultron actor will be joined by Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell and other guests at Fenway Park.

Earlier this month, Evans helped his restaurateur cousin Robert Veek raise over $3,000 for The Pettengill House in Newburyport, Mass. "I have never been up here before. This is great," the Sudbury native told Salem News. "It's nice to be able to do things like this. We talked about doing this over Thanksgiving, but then you see it come together and it is very rewarding." Evans signed autographs for roughly 100 kids under the age of 16 and co-hosted a holiday party with his family members.

"It is an honor to be able to bring any type of happiness to people, especially at this time of the year," the Snowpiercer star said. "I know that is kind of cheesy, but I am a sucker for Christmas and I like to give back. That feels good."
