Gotham just played a very sneaky joke on all of us...and we couldn't love it more!

After teasing and hinting at the iconic DC Comics villain the Joker all season long in clever little Easter Eggs hidden throughout each episode, the Fox superhero origin series just flat-out introduced the maniacal baddie in the promo for next week's episode!

That's right, in "The Blind Fortune Teller" airing on Monday, Feb. 16, fans will finally get to meet one of the all-time greatest villains to ever plague the streets of Gotham.

Don't just take our word for it...we've got proof! Check out the promo for next week's episode above now to catch a glimpse of Gotham's version of the Joker, aka "Jerome."

Um, how amazing is this casting? Shameless star Cameron Monaghan (who plays the gay Gallagher son Ian on the Showtime drama) wouldn't have been an obvious choice for this sure-to-be violent and chilling role, but after catching just a quick few seconds of that s--t-eating grin, that uncontrollable giggle that can't stop until it becomes a full, gasping-for-air hysterical laughter, we can't imagine anyone else more worthy to take on the role that Heath Ledger made legendary in the Dark Knight trilogy. (Sorry, Jared Leto!)

Now, who (besides the showrunners!) knows if Jerome will turn out to actually be the Joker, rather than just another clever little twist on the character, but based on this promo which uses the word "joke" outright in its tagline, it's obvious we're in for a wild ride next week.

Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
