FameFlynetUK/FAMEFLYNET PICTURES Lindsay Lohan has returned to her native New York to fulfill part of the 125 hours of community service she was ordered to complete for a reckless driving case and recently spent time with kids at a children's center.
The 28-year-old actress, who recently spent time in London to star in a play, has seen her movie career stalled amid personal and legal turmoil for years and has served time in jail before. She was ordered to complete 90 days in rehab, 30 days of community labor and 18 months of psychotherapy after crashing her Porsche on a Los Angeles highway and lying to police. She remains on probation.
In February, an L.A. judge did not accept 125 community service hours she said she had completed and told her to complete 125 more. Last week, it was revealed that Lohan had completed only nine hours of community service. The judge told her there would be "consequences" if she did not fulfill her full duties by May 28.
NBC New York reported that on Wednesday, Lohan worked at Brooklyn Community Services' Duffield Children's Center in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City to fulfill part of the 125 hours of community service, adding that she had also performed service there in August 2014.
NBC New York reporter Melissa Russo tweeted a photo of Lohan at the children's center.
"Brooklyn Community Service says despite logistical challenges of hosting Lindsay Lohan for court ordered volunteer hour, 'It's a service,'" she reported.

"Lindsay has been and is deeply committed to helping children," her rep said in a statement to E! News, adding, "Lindsay is committed to satisfying the court's requirements regarding community service and has returned to NYC to finish the remaining hours."
NBC New York reported that if Lohan does not fulfill her community service requirements by the deadline, she could face up to a year and a half behind bars.
