Be prepared to have these four short words stuck in your head for the next few months: "This is The Voice!"
It's time for season 11 of the long-running (and Emmy-winning!) singing competition to start back up in earnest, after a short sneak peek following the 2016 Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony. If that half hour didn't whet your appetite for the new season—which features new coaches Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus competing alongside old pros Adam Levine and Blake Shelton—then perhaps this list of things you can expect from the two-hour premiere will?
Here are five things to expect from Monday's show:
The Hard Sell: It is a season premiere, so The Voice is showcasing some of the season's best talent—which means that often, all four coaches turn. That means some VERY intense battles to get the singers to choose them.
More Talented Teens: The post-Olympics sneak peek included two incredibly talented teenage girls, who chose Miley and Alicia as their coaches. But the young talent well runs deep, with even more teens making the coaches turn in the two-hour season 11 premiere proper.
Good Genes: It wouldn't be a season of The Voice without some celebrity offspring. And while Candace Cameron Bure's daughter, who auditioned this season, doesn't make the opener, we do see two children of musicians (albeit of the non-superstar variety) and one daughter of a pro basketball player.
Questionable Passes: While sometimes when no coaches turn you fully understand why, during tonight's episode there's one great singer who doesn't manage to get anyone to push a button. The coaches all explain what was missing, but we're still not hearing it…
Brushes With Stardom: One of the auditioners was a swimmer as a kid, and swam against Michael Phelps in the Junior Olympics! And if that's not enough, he revealed that the reason he even got into music is because he met Adam backstage at a Maroon 5 concert during college and was so inspired by their conversation that he started a band. Hm, wonder who he'll pick?
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
