A gymnastics "dream team," if you will. The U.S. team at the 1996 Olympics had superstars such as Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu and Dominique Dawes. But when you think of this group, you have to highlight Kerri Strug's vault landing on an injured ankle. Never forget.
Disney Movies
The '90s were a golden age of animated Disney films: Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin, to name a few. And don't forget that Toy Story came out in the '90s, too!
Scream
"What's your favorite scary movie?" And with that opening sequence, Scream changed everything we thought we knew about horror films. It was smart, it was self-aware and it killed off its biggest star in the first ten minutes.
TLC
Thanks to this R&B girl group, we learned we should never go chasing waterfalls. And we also learned that Chili's abs are the eighth wonder of the world.
Daria
For those who found Saved by the Bell and Full House way too squeaky clean for their taste, MTV gave us Daria. She was sarcastic, smart and unapologetic about being anti-pop culture. Our love for her was instantaneous.
Seinfeld
It was a show about nothing, but people could not stop watching it. To us, Seinfeld was the epitome of the '90s sitcom.
MTV Actually Playing Music Videos
Did you guys know that MTV stands for "Music Television?" Yes, the network now famous for Jersey Shore and Teen Mom used to have programs dedicated solely to playing music videos (TRL, for example) including those by those guys above, Nirvana. Sadly, the days of waiting anxiously for Britney's new video to premiere on MTV are long gone.
Friends
If there was any other show that represented TV in the '90s besides Seinfeld, it was Friends. The NBC comedy had a simple premise, but it came with a dynamite cast and a winning formula that networks have been trying to emulate ever since.
Lindsay Lohan, B.M.
That's "Before Meltdown." Lindsay Lohan became a breakout star with the beloved 1998 Disney remake The Parent Trap. And it seemed like she was on a direct course to a great acting career, what with Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. But then...well, you know the rest.
TGIF
SNICK gave us Clarrisa, but ABC's TGIF block gave us the Tanner family and Full House. This was a time when people stayed home on Friday nights just to watch Boy Meets World, Step By Step and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Thankfully, we are getting a Boy Meets World reboot very soon.
Dawson's Creek
We don't want to wait for our lives to be over, and it certainly seemed like the end once Dawson's Creek went off the air. Pacey and Joey for life!
Boy Bands
Were you an 'N Sync girl or a Backstreet Boys girl? Maybe you went off the beaten path and worshiped 98 Degrees! Regardless of your music choices, the '90s were all about men who sang and danced together while wearing coordinating outfits.
