12. Nina Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries
While we're thrilled that Tatiana Maslany of Orphan Black finally received a nod for her amazing work playing six different characters, we can't help but root for Nina Dobrev on The Vampire Diaries who plays three of her own. Consistently showing gravitas beyond her years, we can't help but think that if she were on another network that's taken more seriously by Globes voters, she'd already have a few nominations by now.
11. Merritt Wever, Nurse Jackie
The Nurse Jackie and New Girl star is talented, funny and natural, and perhaps the most endearing TV actress of the moment, thanks to her show-stealing Emmys non-speech: "Gotta go." Don't you want to see what she'd do the second time around on an awards stage? Of course you do!
10. Zosia Mamet, Girls
The scene-stealing actress deserved recognition for her hilarious yet surprisingly heartfelt performance as Shoshanna Shapiro on the hit HBO comedy Girls. Writer/Producer/Director and star of the series, Lena Dunham has already had her time to shine, so now it's Zosia's turn. Plus, each and every line that falls out of her filter-less mouth is pure gold so let's all put our big girl pants on, find a crack spirit-guide, and rally for Zosia for an Emmy nod in 2014.
9. Jake Johnson, New Girl
We've been rooting for New Girl's Jake Johnson for the past three years and it's about time that our favorite turtle-faced bartender got some credit for being so gosh darn loveable. Just look at him, Golden Globes nomination people—he's hilarious, endearing and adorable. What else can we say?
8. Adam Scott, Parks and Recreation
From the amazing delivery of his nerdtastic one-liners—"I went back to season one of Fringe to check for plot holes, as suspected… It's airtight"—to giving us one of the most swoon-worthy proposals and TV weddings of all time, we would give Adam Scott all the Golden Globe nominations. But we'd take just one. 2015, Globes voters?
7. Christine Baranski, The Good Wife
All hail Christine Baranski, the queen bee of primetime drama. The Emmy winner has always turned in a fine performance as Diane Lockhart, one half of Lockhart/Gardner, one of the central law firms on The Good Wife, but she's dialed it up to new heights during season five. From her quest to get on the Chicago Supreme Court to her icy death stares regarding Florrick/Agos & Associates, it's been a banner year for Ms. Baranski. Time to give her the first nomination for this role already!
6. Kathy Bates, American Horror Story: Coven
Leave it to Oscar winner Kathy Bates to make us feel anything but hatred for a racist murderer! Her performance as Madame LaLaurie has been one of the best parts of a great season of American Horror Story. Who knew we'd start feeling sympathy for a character more sadistic than Bates' Misery character?
5. Chris Messina, The Mindy Project
Sorry, Jake Johnson, but you've officially been replaced as our fictional TV boyfriend. Danny Castellano easily could've become your standard jaded New York divorcee with a massive chip on his shoulder, but Messina has made him adorable, cranky, vulnerable, closed off, damaged and irresistible all at once. And hello, he deserved a nomination for his infamous dance sequence alone.
4. Nick Offerman, Parks and Recreation
One of these days Nick Offerman will get an award for being everybody's favorite bacon-lovin' parks department boss Ron Swanson on Parks & Recreation. From his trademark giggle to his affinity for calling it like it is, Offerman is perfect as Ron Swanson, the man, the myth, the legend.
3. Bellamy Young, Scandal
Olivia who?! Anyone who watched her character Mellie's backstory episode on Scandal knows Bellamy Young delivered one of the most mind-blowing, perception-altering TV performances of the year. No one else on television plays someone so simultaneously detestable and sympathetic with such soul-shattering perfection. And drunk Mellie? Perhaps our favorite TV lush of all time. Team Mellie all the way.
2. Mindy Kaling, The Mindy Project
No need to put the girl in front of it as we've got a full-blown crush on Kaling and her show The Mindy Project, arguably the strongest sitcom currently on TV that you're not watching (though you really should be). Whether it's for her hilarious (and sometimes heartbreaking) performance as the pop culture and romance-obsessed OB-GYN Mindy Lahiri or for her makes-us-laugh-so-hard-our-stomachs-hurt writing, we need to see Kaling recognized as much as we need to see Mindy and Danny get together. (So, like, a lot.)
1. Clarie Danes
Not a single nomination for Claire Danes, Damian Lewis or the show. Are the voters taking crazy pills?! Lock them up and Lithium them up Saul!
