Fall TV A to Z, The Affair
1/26
Showtime

A IS FOR: Affair, The

Word of advice? Do not miss Showtime's new drama The Affair, starring Dominic West, Maura Tierney, Josh Jackson, and Ruth Wilson, who everyone will be talking about this fall. She's mesmerizing, and so is the show. Without spoiling the format, you've never watched a show like this before. (Hint: it reminded us a bit of Gone Girl.)

B IS FOR: Broadchurch. Oops, We Mean Gracepoint. Same Difference!

Gracepoint is the American remake of the amazing UK drama Broadchurch, and is supposedly going to have a different ending, but we're kind of irked that we have to sit through a whole season of pretty much the same story to get there. We'd rather just watch the original!

C IS FOR: Comic Book Shows

Fall TV is going to be super this year, with so many new comic book shows joining returning vets like Arrow and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But that doesn't mean we're getting tired of superheroes on the small screen. In fact, we can't get enough of CW's The Flash, Fox's Gotham and NBC's Constantine!

D IS FOR: Diversity on ABC

Is there not enough diversity on TV for you? ABC is working to single-handedly fix that with their roster of new comedies, like Black-ish, Fresh Off the Boat and Cristela. There's something for everyone!

E IS FOR: Elsa's Frozen Takeover of Storybrooke

Come on, who isn't excited about the Frozen storyline on Once Upon a Time? And we're most eagerly awaiting Queen Elsa's (played by Fringe's Georgina Haig) frosty debut, especially after hearing the producers aren't interested in giving her a love story. Slay on, Elsa. Slay on. (Also: Yay Greek alum Scott Michael Foster as Kristoff. Perfect casting is perfect.)

F IS FOR: Felicity Huffman’s Return to ABC Since Desperate Housewives

Oh, Felicity Huffman. We've missed seeing your face on ABC since one of our favorite shows, Desperate Housewives, ended its primetime reign years ago. This fall, she'll return to the network for the first time since DH to star on the gritty and intense drama American Crime.

H IS FOR: Heigl’s Return to TV for State of Affairs

Another familiar face you'll see on TV this fall is Grey's Anatomy alum Katherine Heigl, who infamously left that ABC medical drama on not the greatest of terms. Only time will tell if she'll treat her new NBC drama State of Affairs, where she plays the head of the CIA, any better.

I IS FOR: Internet Hackers on Scorpion

Don't you hate it when your wifi stops working for some random reason and you can't fix it? The internet hackers in CBS' new drama Scorpion are faced with that issue times a billion in the series premiere. You thought not being able to watch Netflix was bad? What if you were on a plane trying to land at LAX, and all of sudden, all communications between the plane and the air traffic control just stopped? That's pretty much your worst nightmare come to fruition. Shudder.

J IS FOR: Just like Happy Endings: Marry Me

If you still miss the brilliance that was Happy Endings (Join the club!), then you definitely don't want to miss Casey Wilson's new NBC rom-com series, Marry Me. Not only does it feature Wilson's fan-favorite character Penny Hartz (okay, it actually doesn't, but we like pretending that Annie is just Penny 2.0), but it also comes from the same guy that brought you Happy Endings, David Caspe! Fun fact: Caspe is also Wilson's real-life husband. Because, of course.

K IS FOR: Karen Gillan and John Cho’s Chemistry on Selfie

This show is one of Fall TV's biggest surprises. While the premise—a modern day take on My Fair Lady—sounds more than a little cringeworthy, the show is going to be your new obsession all thanks to the incredibly charming duo of Karen Gillan and John Cho. Plus, it's penned by Suburgatory's Emily Kapnek, so you know it's going to be smart, witty and downright hilarious.

L IS FOR: Laura, The Mysteries of

Oh, Debra Messing. You deserve so much more than this NBC comedy about an NYPD homicide detective who balances her day job with a crazy family life that includes two unruly twin boys and a soon-to-be ex-husband who is also a cop who just can't seem to sign the divorce papers. Also, Debra honey, who did you piss off at the network to get put in a lime green turtleneck sweater on all the billboards promoting the show? Yikes. At least you're not modeling outrageous and ridiculous scarves anymore?

M IS FOR: Midseason Shows

If you can't wait to see new shows Galavant, Agent Carter, Secrets & Lies, Backstrom, Empire, The Whispers, Last Man on Earth and Weird Loners...you're going to be waiting a while. Sorry, but these are all actually midseason shows, meaning they won't premiere until 2015.

N IS FOR: Naked Ioan Gruffudd on Forever

The main idea for ABC's drama Forever is that Ioan Gruffudd can't die. Well, he dies, but each time the coroner wakes up naked in the East River in NYC. So the pilot is just filled with lots of naked Ioan Gruffudd, which really isn't the worst thing in the world.

P IS FOR: Parenthood's Final Season

Start emotionally preparing for your last 13 family therapy sessions with the Bravermans. We plan on savoring every last moment with NBC's most underrated drama, even if it means experiencing some major heartbreak as EP Jason Katims warned that a storyline in the premiere will present "a huge challenge for this family, the kind we haven't seen before." Anyone else fearing a death in the fam?!

The badass star of Nikita is back on TV to kick butt with a more realistic (and much more terrifying) target than shadow government groups like Division: stalkers in Los Angeles. Our advice to you? Watch this series in the middle of the day, with all the doors locked and with a buddy for emotional support. And prepare for all the nightmares.

V IS FOR: Viola Davis Killing It in How To Get Away With Murder

Prepare to become obsessed with Viola Davis even more thanks to her incredible role as the take-no-prisoners, questionably-moral law professor Annalise Keating. Honestly, if we ever had a professor like this one in college, we probably would have attended a few more lectures.

W IS FOR: Walsh, Kate on Bad Judge

Oy. Our advice about Kate Walsh's new series about a tough-as-nails judge serving on the Los Angeles County Circuit Court who spends her downtime partying recklessly is watch old episodes of her ABC drama Private Practice instead. That's a much better use of your time.
